As at the end of Q3 AST SpaceMobile had 287,949,830 outstanding and they were split across the following three classes as follows:

During Q3 there has been an increase of 21,288,195 shares in AST, this is due to the warrants being called raising over $150 million for the company. In addition to this there was usage of the new ATM facility, nearly 4 million shares were sold raising just over $105 million. This has meant for the first time the company has over $500m on the balance sheet.

There has been an increase of 12,265,738 in the quarter of shares being held by institutions. We have seen plenty of new funds commence starter positions in the company and hopefully as time goes on they will soak up more of the float reducing the volatility of the share price.

If we review the table below, there has been a 2% increase in institutional ownership of the float compared to the previous quarter while other percentages have reduced due to the increase in shares.

There are 212,745,466 (Q2 – 200,149,050) shares owned by insiders, employees, strategic partners and institutions.

The SpaceMob continue to back the company strongly with nearly 6 million shares between 100 of us, increasing by nearly 1 million shares from Q2.

During Q2 there were several large increases, most notably by D.E Shaw who purchased over 4 million shares in AST.

There were a few institutions who sold large positions in AST. Janus Henderson who picked up over 5 million shares in Q2, realised their profits by selling 3.8 million shares and Invesco sold the shares they picked up in Q2 reducing their position to only 50,000 shares.

At the end of October short interest in the company was 37,861,076 shares, shorts piled on as momentum stalled at ATH’s. It’ll be interesting to see as the company progresses whether they’ll close or trim their positions as the company hits milestones.
